Being from Yorkshire I would say that people would travel up to, at most, 30/40minutes to see their Dentist. I would even go as far as saying that most would simply choose one in their immediate local area so they don’t have to travel at all. This would be the same with local restaurants & cafes, clothes shops, pubs etc, you would look for your closest one and only really travel far / over an hour if really necessary. Public transport has a bit of a role to play in this as you just can’t compare it to London, where you can get a bus, train or tube 24 hours a day.

In London it’s normal for journeys to work and play alike to take 30, 40, 50 minutes, even hours sometimes. Whether you’re a born Londoner or you’ve migrated here from elsewhere in the UK, or anywhere in the World, if you’ve lived in the big smoke for over a month you’ll be all too familiar with travel journeys; tightly packed tubes, busy buses, delayed and cancelled trains.

However, we are prepared and quickly become pro commuters, armed with a Metro or Evening Standard, books, games, podcasts & music or our favourite series on our phones. It’s commonplace here to travel an hour to a new trendy bar, a boutique clothes shop, a pop up food stall for the newest culinary delight or to a new art exhibition. London is a big place and the people here go from North to South, East and West regularly, without overthinking travel times too much. We are used to it, and prepared!

This is the main reason why we get patients coming from all over London, and even the very outskirts of Zone 6 and beyond. We have some patients that travel up to 2 hours to get to us!

So where exactly are we in London, and why are people travelling across the city to get to us?

Our name obviously gives away where we are in London, but whether you’re new to London or the Archway area or a seasoned local, here’s why we love our little piece of the city.

Let’s talk about Archway!

archway station

Archway is a suburb of the trendy and booming borough of Islington, which sits just north of Central London bordered by artsy Crouch End to the North, well known Finsbury Park to the East, leafy Highgate to the West and Arsenal’s Holloway to the South.
Having been redeveloped and regenerated over the last few years, the streets are lined with not only fresh new residential developments, but traditional Victorian and Georgian restored houses too, all filled with young professionals, couples and young families.
Archway is really well connected to London and beyond too, with Archway tube station on the Northern Line with direct stops to Camden, Euston, Kings Cross, Old Street and London Bridge. The buses are great too, with easy connections to London Bridge, Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street and being in Zone 2, it won’t cost a lot or take too long either.

Our practice is an easy 2 minutes walk from Archway station, making your journey to us super easy. After your appointment / treatment, be sure to check out some of the lovely local haunts before you leave. We adore the quirky Joy Cafe Bar & Juicery, not only is it totally instagrammable, the food, drinks and owners are just as wonderful. Not far from them and also in N19 is Whiskers and Cream, one of London’s best cat cafes, where you can cuddle 9 gorgeous cats whilst you sip on a capp! If you’re wanting something a little stronger than a coffee, you have to head to our favourite pub in Archway, The Archway Tavern, a craft beer pub that supports the local breweries. If you’re hungry (and your mouth isn’t numb!) there’s a plethora of food choices from independents to chains. We like hip hangout The Spoke which serves artisan burgers and brunchy type food (as well as cocktails and beer!), for pizzas it has to be Crudough or Il Mio Mosaic is good for all things Italian and al fresco dining too!
If the sun is shining and you want to relax in a green space, there’s Archway park, Whittingham Park and Foxham Gardens, all within strolling distance and if you come and see us on a saturday, you can’t miss Archway Market which is outdoor shopping at it’s finest showcasing; local street food, a French deli, a Mediterranean deli, organic produce, vegan cakes, jewellery, books and more.

As you can see, Archway is a great place to be based, it’s close to the city in zone 2, has loads going on and is easily accessible from most parts of London.

Why do people travel to Archway Dental?

As we said, we get patients from all over the city, and we can only imagine that it’s down to our highly skilled and trained Dentists and the rest of our incredible dental team.
